Public welcome to review draft Fishers Peak State Park Management Plan, Nov. 4 and 10, in-person or virtually
TRINIDAD, Colo. – Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites the public to participate in two upcoming meetings to review and provide feedback on the draft management plan for Fishers Peak State Park, one of Colorado's newest state parks.
The meetings, scheduled for Nov. 4 in Trinidad and Nov. 10 virtually, offer residents, park visitors and other interested members of the public an opportunity to learn about the proposed management priorities and future direction of the park.
The draft represents an important step in developing the park's first comprehensive management plan. Building on previous planning efforts and public feedback collected through December 2024, the plan will guide park operations, recreation opportunities, natural and cultural resource protection, and future infrastructure development over the next 10 years.
Public participation has helped shape Fishers Peak State Park since planning began in 2018, including extensive community and stakeholder input during development of the park's master plan. The current management planning process builds on that work, focusing more specifically on park operations and long-term management.
“Public involvement is critical as we continue developing Fishers Peak State Park and planning for its future,” said Park Manager Crystal Dreiling. “We want to hear from the people who visit the park, enjoy its natural beauty and care about its future. Their perspectives will help us shape a management plan that balances recreation opportunities with protecting the natural and cultural resources that make this park so special.”
Public meeting opportunities:
In-person meeting: Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Pioneer Room at Trinidad State College, 600 Prospect St., Trinidad. Registration is optional.
Virtual meeting: Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Participants must register in advance.
Both meetings provide opportunities for the public to review the draft plan and share perspectives on the park's future management.
The management planning process establishes a long-term framework for Fishers Peak State Park while identifying opportunities to enhance visitor experiences, protect wildlife habitat and cultural resources, and guide future park development.
