Hawaiian icons Kapena join Gospel Reggae pioneers Christafari for “Martyr for Justice (Charlie’s Song)”—a moving tribute one month after Kirk’s passing.

One theme that stands out to me is the contrast between those who tried to silence him with murder and hate, and how his message continues to live on through the courage of his faith.”

A HISTORIC COLLABORATION BETWEEN ISLAND AND GOSPEL REGGAE ROYALTY

The track unites two musical forces from different backgrounds but with a shared passion for faith-based music. Pastor Mark Mohr and Avion Blackman of Christafari — joined by Cole Marcus — partnered with Kapena DeLima, Hawaii’s leading island-music producer.

“This collaboration brings together Hawaii’s most respected island artist and producer with one of the longest-standing Gospel Reggae ministries on the planet,” says Mohr. “After 36 years, six #1 Billboard Reggae albums, and ministry in 93 nations, we’re grateful for the opportunity to create something meaningful together.”

WHY THE SONG WAS WRITTEN

Christafari has previously shared stages with Charlie Kirk at major events nationwide. His outspoken faith and public ministry inspired the band’s decision to write “Martyr for Justice (Charlie’s Song).”

“Charlie’s consistent presentation of the Gospel at events over the years inspired us,” says Mohr. “It reminded us that our calling as musicians is to reach as many people as possible with the message of Jesus Christ.”

Over the last decade, Christafari has witnessed more than one million decisions for Christ worldwide through concerts and outreach.

FROM TRAGEDY TO WORSHIP

“I’ll never forget waking up on our Hawaiian island tour to the news of Charlie Kirk’s death. It was a deeply painful moment — but from that pain came worship, and from worship came this song.”
— Mark Mohr, Christafari

“That night, during a performance of our song ‘Valley of Decision’ — which includes the lyric ‘This is no game, people have to die in His name’ — something shifted. What began as a moment of silence and prayer grew into two hours of worship,” Mohr says.

As the tour continued across Hawaii, Christafari witnessed what they describe as a strong response of faith.

“People were flooding into churches, buying Bibles, and getting baptized — it was a true harvest,” Christafari's Avion Blackman says. We believe something massive is happening in America, and this is just the beginning.”

“Like a seed that has fallen to the ground, new life it will yield — this is the turning point, the harvest field.”

THE BIRTH OF A SONG

Just days later, Kapena DeLima messaged Mohr:

“This past week at church, my uncle preached about how Charlie was similar to John the Baptist. The word planted the seed for this song in my heart.”

DeLima added, “I couldn’t sleep — God put it on my heart. Then I saw your post about being friends with Charlie and it blew me away.”

After hearing Kapena’s verse and chorus, Mohr says, “I was deeply moved. Within hours, I had written an additional verse, an alternate chorus, and my Dancehall rap. That writing process helped me process what happened — and ultimately became this song.”

COURAGE AND FAITH THAT CANNOT BE SILENCED

“One theme that stands out to me is the contrast between those who tried to silence him and how the message continues to live on through the courage of faith.” — Mark Mohr

The single’s cover art features a “Courage and Faith” badge. “This song is meant to inspire others to stand for the Gospel and proclaim truth no matter the cost,” Mohr adds. “Our response isn’t violence — it’s prayer, love, and truth.”

“This war is not carnal; it’s a spiritual one. This is Charlie’s Song.”
