(MENAFN) Elon Musk has indicated that his upcoming political venture, the “America Party,” will focus on disrupting the entrenched two-party dominance in the US Congress. His goal is to offer an alternative to both Republicans and Democrats ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
The tech mogul’s comments come after his recent announcement to proceed with creating a new political party. Musk describes the America Party as a response to what he calls the “Republican/Democrat Uniparty,” blaming both major parties for poor fiscal management and limiting voter options.
On Sunday, Musk shared on X that while supporting a presidential candidate isn’t ruled out, his immediate focus for the next year will be the US House and Senate races during the November 2026 midterms, when 33 Senate seats and all 435 House seats will be contested.
He further explained his strategy in an earlier post, saying, “the way we’re going to crack the uniparty system is by using a variant of how Epaminondas shattered the myth of Spartan invincibility at Leuctra: extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield.”
Musk also criticized President Donald Trump’s fiscal approach, questioning the purpose of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which Musk was appointed to lead temporarily. He wrote, “What the heck was the point of @DOGE if he’s just going to increase the debt by $5 trillion??”
Trump responded on Truth Social earlier that day, labeling Musk’s recent conduct as erratic and calling him a “train wreck.” He accused Musk of fostering “disruption and chaos” that threatens political stability. Trump added, “I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks,” and criticized Musk’s plan to form a third political party, noting that such efforts have never succeeded in the US and the system “seems not designed for them.”
