Consilio Acquires TrueLaw, Solidifying Role as The World's Largest Legal Data AI Technology Provider

WASHINGTON, June 17, 2025 /BUSINESS WIRE/ --

Consilio, the global leader in legal technology solutions and enterprise legal services, today announced it has completed the acquisition of TrueLaw, a pioneering legal AI research lab based in New York. This strategic acquisition significantly expands Consilio's comprehensive, trusted and private AI suite of capabilities, reinforcing the company’s role as the world's largest AI legal data technology provider.

"This acquisition exemplifies our strategy of making significant technology investments to maintain our leadership position on behalf of our clients," said Andy Macdonald, CEO of Consilio. "We're not just keeping pace with AI innovation—we're driving it forward through strategic acquisitions, internal R&D, and deep partnerships with the most innovative companies in legal AI."

TrueLaw's innovative approach to legal AI, including its proprietary Expert Legal Model (ELM™) and advanced narrative generation capabilities, will complement Consilio’s existing AI suite and Aurora platform to transform complex legal datasets into clear, actionable insights. The acquisition allows clients access to highly sophisticated AI-powered investigation tools, automated timeline generation, contradiction detection, and firm-specific language model fine-tuning – advancing legal technology as we know it.

"It is a perfect business fit for us to join the Consilio team, a company with an unmatched, proven track record of delivering impactful AI solutions to global law firms and corporations," said Arunim Samat, CEO and Co-Founder of TrueLaw. “Consilio’s extensive scale, deep expertise, and commitment to responsible AI innovation create the ideal environment for our technology to thrive. This acquisition will significantly accelerate the advancement of our Expert Legal Model and narrative AI capabilities, while also tapping into Consilio’s robust client relationships and profound understanding of legal workflows.”

The acquisition strengthens Consilio's position as a global leader in legal technology by enhancing its AI capabilities in several key areas for its clients:

  1. Smarter AI for Legal Investigations: TrueLaw's advanced AI tools are designed to analyze and make sense of large volumes of legal data. These tools add to Consilio's existing capabilities, like Aurora's intelligent search features and Relativity Server's data analysis tools, giving clients a variety of specialized options for uncovering important insights in their data.
  2. Custom AI Solutions for Law Firms: TrueLaw's Expert Legal Model (ELM™) allows AI to be customized for each client’s specific needs and practice areas. This means law firms can create tailored AI tools that work best for their unique workflows and challenges.
  3. Turning Data into Clear Insights: TrueLaw’s AI technology can take complex datasets—like emails, contracts, and financial reports—and turn them into easy-to-understand summaries, timelines, and insights. It also detects contradictions and inconsistencies automatically, saving time and improving accuracy.
  4. Boosted Innovation Team: With the addition of TrueLaw’s research team—composed of experts from companies like Google, Apple, and Databricks, as well as institutions like Harvard Law School—Consilio gains even greater power to innovate. This team will help further develop Consilio’s AI tools, like the Aurora platform, and drive new advancements in legal technology.

“By focusing not only on the practice of law, but also the business of law, TrueLaw builds AI solutions that are practical and performance-driven, enabling measurable ROI for firms and legal departments,” said Oren Leib, Head of Growth at TrueLaw. “Consilio’s scale, deep subject matter expertise, and legal tech infrastructure take that impact to the next level.”

The new technology advancements will be seamlessly integrated into Consilio's Aurora platform and are set to be demonstrated at LegalTechTalk in London, June 26-27 (Booth P11) as well as upcoming company webinars and industry events.
