Washington Cancels Russia-U.S. Diplomatic Talks

(MENAFN) Washington has abruptly canceled a highly anticipated Russia-U.S. meeting that was intended to address and resolve ongoing irritants in their bilateral relations, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on Monday.

This planned session was designed to be a key step in ongoing diplomatic talks aimed at easing tensions and finding solutions to lingering issues involving embassy operations, following previous discussions held in Istanbul. Zakharova expressed cautious optimism despite the setback, stating, "We hope that the pause they took will not be too long."

As of now, the United States has not provided any official explanation for the abrupt cancellation, leaving diplomatic circles uncertain about the future trajectory of these crucial negotiations. The absence of clarity from Washington adds a layer of unpredictability to efforts aimed at stabilizing the often fraught relations between the two global powers.
