US “unprecedented” deploying of aerial tankers in Middle East
Currently in its fourth consecutive day, the conflict saw Israeli forces launching air raids last Thursday on Iranian nuclear and military facilities. These attacks resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking military figures and scientists, triggering retaliatory missile strikes on Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and Haifa.
Washington has openly supported Israel’s military campaign. President Donald Trump referred to the Israeli strikes as “excellent,” and cautioned that the US may step in militarily should its national interests be endangered. Despite this, no official deployment of US combat troops has been announced.
Flight tracking data indicates that US KC-135 and KC-46 aerial tankers are already en route to the region. According to reports, these tankers may be tasked with refueling Israeli warplanes or preparing to support American fighter jets and bombers if the US decides to enter the conflict directly.
Additional reporting suggests that Western allies may also be contributing refueling support for Israeli operations. The US is believed to be assisting with intelligence sharing, satellite-guided targeting, and missile defense coordination.
