U.S., Iran Consider Diplomatic Talks

(MENAFN) The United States is reportedly engaged in conversations with Iran regarding the potential for a meeting this week between American representative Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as shared by a news outlet on Monday.

Quoting four individuals familiar with the matter, the news outlet mentioned that the aim of the proposed dialogue would be to explore a diplomatic approach related to a nuclear agreement and the resolution of the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Iran.

United States Leader Donald Trump is scheduled to return to Washington, DC later on Monday, concluding his attendance at the G7 summit in Canada earlier than planned due to the intensifying crisis in the Middle East.

"I have to be back early for obvious reasons," he told reporters.
Earlier in the day, Trump called on the public to leave Tehran "immediately" in light of the growing conflict involving Israel and Iran.

"Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!
"Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!" he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

The situation has worsened since Friday, when Israel carried out synchronized missile and drone strikes on several targets throughout Iran, including defense and nuclear locations. These actions triggered retaliatory attacks from Tehran.
